On Saturday, Sept. 27, the Wreck n’ Roll Demolition Derby will be coming to the Greene County fairgrounds for the first time ever.
According to visitgreene.org, “Derby Dog Inc. is excited to bring a night of entertainment and hard hitting action to Waynesburg and being that it’s our first time having the event in Greene County, we are expecting new faces and returning ones for an action packed show.”
Greene County Fair Board treasurer Courtney Hursey shared her thoughts on bringing the derby to Greene County.
“We have the fair and carnival every year and we are just looking to bring more events to the Fairgrounds and Greene County throughout the year,” Hursey said.
Hursey also spoke on what people can expect to see at this event.
“The derby itself is the experience, but is something I think everyone should experience at some point,” Hursey said. “It’s a tradition and culture for the people of Greene County and the surrounding areas.”
The event runs from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Cash or pre-purchased tickets will be at the gate, per visitgreene.org.
Hursey talked about the overall goal that her and the Greene County fair board had for this event.
“We want to bring events to the fairgrounds and the Greene County Fair Board wants to be able to put more money into the fairgrounds itself.” Hursey said. “We also want people to experience all the derby and event will have to offer such as food vendors, fall weather, family and friends and the ambiance of the derby itself.”
