Ally Wolling Waynesburg ended the 2025 season on Saturday with a 35-24 win over Saint Vincent.
The final record for the Yellow Jackets sits at 4-6 overall and 4-4 in Presidents’ Athletics Conference play. This is the third time in four years that the Yellow Jackets have finished with that overall record.
With it being senior day, senior Tommy Burke started at quarterback for Waynesburg, playing a couple of snaps throughout the game.
Saint Vincent’s opening drive went for six plays and 67 yards, ending in a 25-yard touchdown run from Matthew Davis.
Burke and the Yellow Jacket offense stalled on their first drive, giving it back to the Bearcats who also stalled after gaining one first down. However, the punt was blocked by junior receiver Ethan Floyd, who also returned it for a touchdown, tying the game 7-7.
“I saw the hole in film all week,” Floyd said.
Saint Vincent turned it over again on the next drive after wide receiver Chris Downs fumbled.
A 32-yard pass from sophomore Luke Hudson to senior Isaac Trout set up Carson Shriver for a 3-yard touchdown run, making it 14-7 Waynesburg.
Downs made up for his fumble on the next drive after catching a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Phillips to make it 14-14.
Nobody scored again until Justin Emeigh nailed a 47-yard field goal, giving Saint Vincent a 17-14 lead as time ran out in the first half.
Waynesburg started the second half with an 81-yard scoring drive ending with Carson Shriver running it in from one yard out to make it 21-17 Waynesburg.
The Yellow Jackets forced a three-and-out on the next drive, leading to a 19-yard touchdown to senior tight end Giovanni Cipoletti, making it 28-17.
Waynesburg’s final touchdown came on a 34-yard touchdown run from Shriver to make it 35-17.
“It all starts with the offensive line,” Shriver said. “The wide receivers too, they were all blocking their butts off. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Downs scored a seven-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, but that was not enough as the Yellow Jackets won 35-24.
Shriver finished the game with 119 yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him 810 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season.
Shriver said that this game means even more with it being his last game with the 20 seniors on the team.
“It makes me want to be emotional,” Shriver said. “I never had leaders like that in my entire life. They got my back when I’m down. Those guys are my brothers, and I love them.”
The Yellow Jackets season is now over with next week being their bye week, and they will start to get ready for next season.
