The Jackets faced the Thiel Tomcats in what was their final game of the regular season and won 69-58.
The Jackets took an early lead and never looked back.
On senior day Antone Baker put up 20 points and 12 rebounds which was good for his ninth double-double of the year, behind his was Junior Jaylen Davis who recorded 18 points and eight rebounds, Senior Bryson Wilt also recorded 10 points for the Jackets.
While the Jackets had already clinched a home playoff game in their previous win on Saturday, the Jackets secured this season as the best record under Tim Fusina and allowed the team to finish with a winning record in the season and in the conference.
Baker said with being an upperclassman, this allows him to have a leader type roll on the team.
“Now I got a bigger role, and I can help some of the younger guys, and let them understand what it takes to get here especially with newer guys that came in like PJ, Jordan, Korey, and Jaylen Davis.”
Baker also said what impact all the transfers have had on the team this season.
“Davis comes on the floor, and you could get him the ball in the paint, and nobody can stop him, real strong and athletic, we’ve got Suggs who’s fast, you’ve got Jordan McLoyd who sometimes struggles but when he’s on its over with, hits shots whenever he needs to.”
The Jackets will play their first home playoff game that includes fans since the 2014-2015 season.
“It’s going to be a good time, a fun time, we’re looking forward to being at the Marrisa in front of our people,” Mitchum said.
The Jackets will face off against Grove City in the first round of the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) tournament on Tuesday February 20th at 7 pm.
