During day one, Orbin had his first matchup ending with a pin in a little over three minutes over Washington & Jefferson’s John Starusko.
Orbin’s second matchup resulted in a loss against Ohio Northern’s Jack Hoffman in the third period. This loss was Orbin’s first since Dec. 6.
Orbin won his third matchup against Southern Virginia’s Tanner Glatras to advance to day two.
During the second day of matches, Orbin would need three straight wins to finish in the top three and move on to nationals.
During the first match of the day, Orbin would lose the winning point after a second stall call against Orbin in the third, resulting in a 2-1 decision loss for Orbin.
Orbin said that despite the podium finish, he felt he didn’t compete to the standard he set for himself.
“Personally, I think it was lackluster, and it just wasn’t my best weekend. I hit the podium, but it wasn’t the best weekend for me. Just wasn’t clicking how I needed it to,” Orbin said.
Orbin’s season ended with a record of 32-4 overall on the season. He said his season was overall one to remember.
“I would say my season was pretty successful. I ended with over 100 wins as a junior and over 30 wins in the season. It was a good season with great people around me.” Orbin said.
With a great season coming to an end, Orbin believes his favorite moment this season was when he eclipsed 100 career wins.
“My favorite moment was hitting 100 wins at the John Summa Invite. It was a special moment for me since I didn’t get to hit 100 wins in high school. It was nice to celebrate with my teammates and family,” Orbin said.
