SAB to take students to Globetrotters event

April 8, in Wheeling, W.Va. at Wesbanco Arena, Waynesburg University travels south to watch the Harlem Globetrotters as the team is on its 2025 world tour.

The Globetrotters bring a balance of comedy and entertainment to the sports world and for $20, Waynesburg students have a chance to witness four-point shots and a presentation of family-fun basketball.

Sign-ups for the event can be found on the Waynesburg myConnect page following a form that is required to be filled prior to attending the event.

According to Pat Bristor, Waynesburg University’s associate dean of students and student engagement, the last Globetrotters event was several years ago due to timeliness, but she says the student reaction was positive.

“I think they enjoyed it,” Bristor said. “I think just the trickery, the skill and the talent that the players have is just phenomenal.”

Bristor recalled on past games and mentioned the opportunity of watching the team live.

“I remember half court shots like it was nothing,” Bristor said. “It is, as I mentioned, a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Waynesburg University senior and a member of the men’s basketball team this past season, PJ Suggs, had a Harlem Globetrotter-like moment in early March. During halftime of a Cleveland Cavaliers game on March 5, Suggs drained a half-court shot to win $10,000.

Suggs spoke on his experience watching the Harlem Globetrotters.

“Growing up, I loved how the Globetrotters dribbled the basketball,” Suggs said. “It ultimately motivated me to work on my dribbling skills as a player.”

Suggs also thinks the Globetrotters event through Waynesburg appeals to the student body.

“This can be an entertaining event for students because we have many people that love the game of basketball,” Suggs said. “The Globetrotters take the game of basketball and bring humor into it for family entertainment.”

Not only do the Globetrotters incorporate humor and skilled basketball to their events, but also family fun for all viewers, including live interaction with fans during games.Pat Bristor says there are a total of 20 tickets available on sale until the day the bus departs on April 8, 2025.Click here to sign up.
