University SAB selling candy grams

In the name of giving and spreading love for Valentine’s Day, Waynesburg University’s Student Activities Board is selling candy grams for students and faculty to send to one other. These grams consist of candy in a Waynesburg University mug with ribbon and a flower on top. SAB’s Graduate Assistant Megan McElligot expressed the benefits of these candy grams.

“We have done this before in years past, and it was really nice for students to be able to send their friend a candy gram or a gift just to let them know they are loved and that they are there for each other,” McElligot said.

SAB will be selling these candy grams at a table set up on the second floor of the Stover Campus Center from now until Feb. 11. These grams will be delivered on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, with a surprise.

Recipients of these candy grams will be able to receive them from their student mailboxes.

“We will be putting them in their mailboxes, but there are different ways we are going to give them to them. There might be a surprise,” McElligot said.

These candy grams are intended to be a way for Waynesburg students and staff to show their love and appreciation for each other, while spreading joy, one gram at a time.

“It is just kind of a way for students to connect more and to just get into the Valentine’s Day spirit,” McElligot said.

While sharing her favorite part of selling these Valentine’s Day grams, McElligott explained why she loves doing it.

“My favorite part is just having the students be able to give something to someone else. A lot of departments are able to give them to one another,” McElligot said. “Our faculty and staff can give to each other. It is the month of giving. Giving here is just amazing, so being able to let everybody know they are loved is really good for the community.”

These candy grams are priced at $2 each or $10 for six of them. The money used to purchase these goes to compensate for the materials needed to make the grams.

“We compensate for all of the material that we use,” McElligot said. “Buying the candy and the ribbon, so the money goes to compensate for that.”

McElligot is excited to sell candy grams and spread the love.

“We are here from the first to the eleventh so come by from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and purchase a candy gram for a friend,” she said.
