Volleyball loses to St. Vincent 3-1

On Sept. 27. Wednesday night, Waynesburg University Volleyball fell to Saint Vincent College in a 3-1 contest.

The Lady Yellow Jackets had an amazing start in the first set, leading 20-15, but sadly the Bearcats had a rally of points tying the ladies 22-22, and then stealing the set 22-25.

Although the Yellow Jackets were trailing 1-0 in the match, they came out slow in the second set, being down 10-2.

Being led by Junior Jordan Stein, Waynesburg made a comeback, winning the set 25-23. Stein put her body on the line, running into the cinderblock wall of the Marisa Fieldhouse, giving the women a great rally of points, putting them back in the set.

“You gotta go for every ball,” Stein said.  “…plays like that, switching the energy and bringing us back into it.”

The Saint Vincent Bearcats continued their dominance in the match, winning the final two sets 25-14 and 25-17.

The Saint Vincent Bearcats continued their dominance over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, going 37-0 in the competition between the teams since 2006.

The Lady Yellow Jackets will host Penn State Shenango and Hilbert this weekend at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse this Saturday on Sept. 30. starting at 11a.m.
