Waynesburg prepares for upcoming Harvest Festival

It’s that time of year again, the season of pumpkin spice everything, hoodie/flannel weather and the Greene County Historical Society’s annual Harvest Festival.

The GCHS is hosting this event from Saturday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 6.

“This event has been a staple of the Greene County Community for over fifty years, bringing folks together to celebrate Greene County History and Heritage and to celebrate the beginning of Fall,” said Matthew Cumberledge from the GCHS. “It also gives people a place to come together, and enjoy good food and entertainment.”

Visitors will find baked goods, local produce, pottery, jewelry, woodwork and much more, wrote Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Marie Leichliter-Krause in an email interview.

“I encourage Waynesburg University students to visit the Greene County Historical Society during the Harvest Festival,” wrote Leichliter-Krause. “Enjoy some great food, meet the Civil War and Native American reenactors, shop from local business stands, and learn about the county’s history during interactive activities and tours.”

Festival times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

According to Leichliter-Krause, “The Harvest Festival always attracts people from many states who come to experience the event and view our treasure trove of artifacts in the museum.”

The Harvest Festival will take place at the Greene County Historical Society Museum at 918 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg.
