On Feb. 24, Waynesburg University is hosting admitted students on campus for Jacket Day. According to the Waynesburg University website, Jacket Day is a way for students to meet their advisors and professors, review their housing options and much more included in the event.

According to the schedule, the students will receive a schedule with their activities for the day, beginning with registration from 8 to 8:45 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., students will be divided into four different groups with each group each going through four different sessions before meeting together for lunch.

“Some of the activities we will host for Jacket Day include a meeting with the student’s specific academic department and informational session on the following- Residence Life, Housing, and Public Safety, Activities: Think Outside the Classroom, Outcomes: Attend WU, Graduate & Succeed, and Financing Your Waynesburg Education,” Alison Cammisa, an admissions counselor on campus wrote via email.

Cammisa described the event as a way to connect. “Prospective students have the opportunity to make connections with their admissions counselors, staff and faculty, and other incoming students in their class,” Cammisa stated. “We have student-specific activities as well as a parent panel for parents to ask questions.”

Leah Campbell, a student worker for the event, was in the prospective students’ position just a year ago. Now a sophomore, she has taken the opportunity to work with incoming students. “Considering that I was in their shoes at one point, I want to be able to give them any guidance that I would have liked at the time as well as make their transition into college life a bit easier,” Campbell said.
