The Waynesburg University men’s soccer team will hold a free youth soccer day Saturday, Oct. 5. Local soccer players will have the chance to watch Waynesburg’s men’s and women’s teams play Westminister College.
According to assistant coach Steven Haines, the event is a way to build community between collegiate teams and youth sports in the area.
“I think this aligns with what I was taught as a student and what we teach our students here at WU as part of our mission statement, to make connections between our faith, the skills and information we have honed and practiced on the field, and look for ways to serve and share those things with not only the world, but especially the community we are a part of,” Haines said.
Haines said that the first 100 players wearing a Greene County United uniform will receive a free water bottle.
The event is held in conjunction with both the men’s and women’s teams’ senior day games, according to the poster for the event.
