Ethan Spozarski - The Yellow Jacket The Waynesburg University Women’s Soccer team was shut out 4-0 against Grove City last night in the final regular season game of 2025.
“We got a blueprint of what we got to do now,” head coach George DeAugustino said. “We are gonna clean our wounds and get back to work.”
In the 38th minute, Ady Waters fired a shot that took a bad deflection off Abby Ngugi into the back of the net to put Grove City up 1-0.
At the end of the half, Grove City out shot Waynesburg eight to five, with five of them being on goal for the Wolverines. The Yellow Jackets had two shots on goals in the half. Lexus Greenlief had four saves for Waynesburg. Maddie Mills made two saves for Grove City.
Grove City came out and scored three more times in the second half from Kiara White, Lauren Muhanna, and Tori Stevenson.
Amanda Pepe and Regan Mittendorf lead the way with each having four shots and one shot on goal.
“This was a learning game,” Pepe said. “I do believe that sometimes teams need to be humbled, so we can come out on top and learn to be better. We learned a lot about ourselves in this game.”
Waynesburg finished the night with 12 shots, five of them being on goal. Grove City finished with 25 shots and 15 being on goal. The Wolverines had four corner kicks and the Yellow Jackets had two.
Greenlief had nine saves on the night, but had four goals scored on her.
Waynesburg finished the regular season in second place with a 8-1-2 record and will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the semifinal round for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference playoff. The opponent has yet to be determined.
“We are still second seed and we earned that,” Pepe said. “We have had a great season so far and it is not over. We will get a win at Wiley on Wednesday.”
