Women’s T&F conclude trip to Westminster Inv.

The Waynesburg women’s outdoor track and field team traveled up north to New Wilmington, PA on Saturday to compete in the Westminster Invitational hosted by Westminster College.

Sophomore Reagan Pettis finished in 7th place in the steeplechase with a time of 12:50.40 after finishing in 11th place in the Dave Labor Invitational last week in Slippery Rock.

Pettis says that there have been a few factors that helped her.

“First is the warmer weather. I wasn’t shaking the whole time unlike the last few meets,” said Pettis. “The next factor was I had just ran the 400-meter hurdles so I was already stretched out and warmed up.”

Freshman Natalie Double finished in 5th place in javelin, throwing 34.00 meters. Double says that the transition has been smooth from high school to college with the help of some upperclassmen to help her feel more comfortable at the collegiate level.

“Coach Hardie was great with helping us get used to what practices and meets look like,” said Double. “Plus, Meg Barry helped a lot. We could ask her about pretty much anything, and she would help us.”

Double says that she is happy with the result and is excited for the PAC Championships next week.

“Finishing 5th against many of the competitors I will see at PACs was a great start to how I hope to end the season,” said Double. “Those girls challenge me in the best way possible, and I plan to utilize that to make some of my goals happen.”

The women’s track and field team’s next match is the Bethany Mini Meet on Wednesday but some people including Reagan Pettis are taking the week off to prepare for the PAC Championships.

“I am taking this week off of racing,” said Pettis. “I am preparing for PAC, mentally and physically.”

The PAC track and field championships will be on April 25th and 26th at Mylan Park in Morgantown, WV.
