Last Thursday, the cast of “WU’s Line Is It Anyway?” put on their last show of the school year and according to junior host and director Anthony Corkos, it is one of the best shows the cast has ever had.
“I thought it was possibly one of our best shows that we have ever had, it rivaled the last one,” said Corkos. “The last one was really good, but this one might have been better honestly.”
“WU’s Line Is It Anyway?” is an improv comedy show based off “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” featuring Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and originally Drew Carey, but now Aisha Tyler. In the show, contestants are asked to do improv comedy through various skits and for senior Alex Sielski has a favorite
“My favorite skit to do is ‘Director,’ I love ‘Director,’” said senior Alex Sielski. “I think that it is a lot of fun, the cast seems to love it, the crowd loves it, so ‘Director’ is defiantly my favorite game.”
Some other skits that they did were: ‘Press Conference,’ ‘Wacky Newscaster,’ ‘Superheroes,’ ‘Living Scenery’ featuring a guest from the audience, ‘Party Quirks,’ ‘Millionaire,’ ‘Multiple Personalities,’ ‘Scenes From a Hat’ and ‘Quick Change.’
The show was also the last for Sielski and fellow senior Jake Restanio. Sielski commented on the thoughts of graduating and leaving the fun he had with the cast.
“It is definitely a bitter sweet feeling, I am defiantly sad to be here and to be going, but I am also excited to see what new cast members will come out for the next show,” said Sielski. “I defiantly plan on coming back to see. It is always good to see new cast members and get a new style of humor. It was a great three years running, but as sad as I am to see it go I am glad to see new people coming in.”
Sielski has been a part of WU’s Line since his sophomore year when his roommate told him to try out because he thought that he was funny. He had never done improv before, but made the main cast in his first year ever. Ever since, he has made a bunch of new memories.
“I do not know if I can pick one specific best memory, there are so many, but I think that my favorite part about it is that you basically start the show with people I have never talked to before and I would consider them all close friends now,” said Sielski. “I think my best memory is from just how we worked with each other when we first met up to now we are a close knit group of friends. I just like the personal connections that I have made throughout the year.”
Throughout the entire show there was a lot of laughter from the crowd as well as the actors and actresses, something Corkos promises will continue next year.
“Next year there will be more laughs, more goofs, more gaffs, it is going to be a fantastic time,” said Corkos. “I am only getting better as a director and host and the other people are only getting better at what they do. It is always a shame to see people go, but people always step up to replace. It is a fantastic show. It is the best show on campus. I will say that in full confidence, it is the best show on campus.”
