Tim Fusina wins DIII Coach of the Week

Waynesburg University men’s basketball has been gaining national recognition for being ranked as the seventh best scoring defense in Division III so far this season.

Yellow Jackets’ head coach also received national recognition this past week.

Tim Fusina was named DIII Coach of the Week by HoopDirt.com in his third season leasing the team.

“Our guys are playing well,” Fusina said. “I appreciated the recognition for our program.”

The HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award, presented by Just Play Solutions, will be announced at the end of the 2021-22 college basketball season.

Fusina is now eligible to receive this award.

Off to its best start since the 2006-07 season, Waynesburg won two Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) games against Grove City and Franciscan last week to improve to 3-0 in conference play.

This the first 3-0 conference start for Waynesburg since the 1999-2000 campaign.

The Yellow Jackets are the current leaders in the PAC standings.

Waynesburg is back on the hardwood at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse to take on Muskingum on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

This will be the first of three straight non-conference opponents for the Yellow Jackets.

“Nothing is going to change in our approach,” Fusina said. “We’re just going to try and get better at what we do.”
