Waynesburg doesn’t always come across as a weekend hotspot for college students, but there are many events in the area that many people may not know about. So to cure those weekend boredoms, here are three activities within Greene County you can participate in this weekend.
1. Veterans Day Parade
The Veterans Council of Greene County is hosting its annual parade Saturday, Nov. 9, on East High Street. The Carmichaels’ VFW, the James L. Farrell Post 330 American Legion and the Greene County Honor Guard will also participate. The grand marshals will be veterans from World War II and the Korean War. For more information, call Rick Black, Veterans Day parade chairman, at 724-998-0598.
2. World War I Memorial Photo Exhibit
Candice Buchanan and Glenn Toothman, founders of the Rainy Day Boys project, will be displaying photos of most of the 58 fallen Greene County soldiers who fought in World War I. The exhibit will be open Nov. 10 from 1:30 – 4 p.m. Click here for more information.
3. Cash Bash
A non-Veterans Day event, Fraternal Order of Eagles #598 is hosting a Cash Bash. With a $3 and $5 gun tables, the event will be in auction house 9 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Tickets are available at Waynesburg Eagles Aerie 598, 52 West High Street. Learn more about the Cash Bash here.
Come back to The Yellow Jacket next Thursday for information on three more weekend events.
