The men’s and women’s cross-country team traveled west to Bethany College this weekend, for the Bethany Invitational meet.
The women placed 13th out of 20 team and the men placed 12th out of 20 teams.
The women went into the invitational after coming off a win last week at the Washington and Jefferson Invitational.
The women’s team placed 1st of out 5 teams. Although, the second meet of the year, opened a challenge for the Waynesburg Lady Jackets. That challenge was a vast variety of competition, including teams from outside the Presidents Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Reagan Pettis lead the ladies as she placed 24 out of 171 runners. Shortly behind Pettis, sophomore Grace Tanksley placed 34 and senior Gabi Reifsnyder placed 37.
“I have hope that we will continue to drop our times and will continue grow our speed, strength, and stamina,” Pettis said. “Where we need to grow is our bond.”
With many meets left until PAC Championships, this gives the ladies plenty of time to grow as a team.
The men started the Bethany Invitational after placing 2 in the Washington and Jefferson Invitational meet last weekend. The men’s team faced the same challenge heading into this week: tougher competitors from outside of the PAC conference.
This weekend Leading the pack for the men was senior Andrew Kasper placing 27 out of 190 runners. Soon after Kasper, graduate student Quintin Weaver crossed the finish line placing 34 overall.
