Great… The Grammys

The Grammys took place Sunday, Feb. 2.

Now there was no slap or anything like that at this year’s Grammys, but there were other controversial aspects of the Grammys.

Yes, I’m talking about the Grammy winners, and that’s what myself and thousands of others are talking about.

Now, don’t get me wrong, some of these awards were given out correctly .

Best country solo artist was Chris Stapelton , and I’m glad that is recognized . The best pop duo/group performance was Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, and that was also well deserved.

Before I get into my issues with the Grammys this year, you must know that I am a country music fanatic. So, I’m sure you can understand my issue with Beyonce receiving a Grammy for best country album with “Cowboy Carter.”

Now, Beyonce is a legend in her own right, and I understand why she wanted to come back to her roots to produce an album. But for me, it simply wasn’t country enough.

Chris Stapelton or Lainy Wilson should have won it, in my opinion. They both had very impressive, consumable country albums.

While scrolling X and Instagram, I noticed that other people were not happy with this decision either. .

Beyonce also won Album of the Year, which shocked a lot of people, because Billie Eilish was snubbed of the award.

Eilish’s album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,”  was my favorite Eilish album of all time. I know that streams don’t decide everything, but it shows which music  is the most widely consumed.

Emily Kesser for the website named, Eastern Progress does not agree with the decision.

“After seeing Beyoncé’s win, I listened to the entirety of “COWBOY CARTER” while working on homework and our upcoming newspaper to see why it won,” said Kessler. “And after the listen, I still don’t know why.”

I understand that the Grammys have a very complicated process for nominating and awarding the artists. I just feel like it’s a little odd when some people don’t agree with them.

Somebody even took to X and  suggested that the Grammys were rigged, according to Kirsty McCormack for Dailymail.com

“A fourth fumed: ‘Beyoncé 100% rigged the Grammys no doubt about it I literally heard NOBODY talking about that album the only song I’ve ever heard was the Texas one #GRAMMYs MORE LIKE #SCAMMYS,” McCormack wrote.

Now, whether you believe the Grammys got it right this year or not, all we can do now is congratulate the winners this year and hope it isn’t as controversial next year.
