Jill Peth dominates Pumpkin Bowling

Waynesburg University’s annual Harvest Fest, which occurred last Thursday, is an event that students around campus participate in every year.

WCYJ-FM’s Pumpkin Bowling has been a staple of Harvest Fest since the early 1990’s. This year’s event was dominated by Eberly Library librarian, Jill Peth.

Peth took down Cole Silaggi in round one as her purple Minion painted pumpkin knocked down all ten pins on her first roll.

A father-son matchup also took place in the first round, as women’s head basketball coach, Sam Jones, outscored his son, Nathan, a freshman communication student, 9-8.

“I taught him everything he knows, so he doesn’t know much,” Sam Jones said.

Greene County commissioner Jared Edgreen participated in this year’s competition, losing in round one to the eventual runner-up, Jackson Medvec.

Peth continued her dominance against President Douglas G. Lee in round two. The round started slow as Peth knocked over one pin in two rolls. However, Lee couldn’t knock over any pins in his frame, allowing Peth to advance.

In the semifinals, Peth missed the pins with her first bowl, but her second bowl knocked down all ten pins, defeating Sam Jones on the way to the championship round.

The other side of the bracket saw Medvec defeat 2025 runner-up and assistant women’s soccer coach, Kayla Jenkins.

Peth picked up a pumpkin that was yet to be used and can only be described as in the shape of a wheel of cheese. She laid it down, let it roll, and completed her third strike of the competition, beating Medvec’s four-pin frame.

“I had no tactic,” Peth said. “It was all luck.”
