Men’s basketball falls to conference rival Chatham

The Waynesburg University Men’s Basketball team traveled to the Pittsburgh on Saturday to take on the Chatham Cougars in a PAC match and lost 87-65.

Waynesburg had only one double digit scorer and that came from Jordan McLoyd who scored 14 points shooting three for six from three. The next highest scorer was Jansen Knotts with eight points and three rebounds.

Chatham had three players score 15 plus points. Chatham was led by Simon Boyer who went from seven from ten from behind the line and had a total of 25 points, Diaun Pinkett scored 19 and Elijah Sutton scored 17 points.

“With the loss to Chatham we need to regroup this weekend,” Knotts said. “Learn what needs to be worked on and fix those things. We found our identity the past couple weeks but didn’t feel like we had it today.”

The Jackets have two more games left in the regular season, and for them to clinch a home playoff game, they must win one of their last two, and Westminster must lose one of their last two.

“If we come prepared, have the right mindset this week and get our guys back healthy, I have all the faith in the world in this team to clinch a home playoff game,” McLoyd said.

The Jackets travel to Steubenville Ohio to take on Franciscan at 8 pm on Wednesday in their final road game of the season.
