Waynesburg University’s Pathways Center has been hosting an event throughout the spring semester.
Since this past January, the Pathways Center has hosted a Weekly Professional Showcase Series on the first floor of Stover Hall.
“This weekly series is great for students, and it allows the students to meet and converse and connect with professionals in their field,” director of the Pathways Center Sarah Bell said.
The Weekly Professional Showcase Series features an advantage for students to reach out to employers of certain careers, and it also helps with career development.
“Employers are invited to the school to network and recruit current or graduating students interested in their line of work,” Bell said. “The students get the opportunity to connect with these employers and build off that.”
There is a wide range of employers that have visited Waynesburg University’s campus for this event each week. Employers that visit are mainly sharing information about their jobs and to meet students.
“We have hosted West Virginia University Medicine, Giant Eagle, New York Life, just to name a few,” Bell said. “Many, many big organizations and corporations have come here to speak with students about what their future holds in that specific career.”
The Pathways Weekly Professional Showcase Series’ next visit is Wednesday, March 25.
“I send out a weekly email to students through their Handshake account on myConnect,” Graduate Assistant for the Pathways Center Katlin Denny said. “I send students information about which employers are arriving on campus, the date, time, where the event is taking place, and I specifically target students with those select majors.”
The Pathways Weekly Professional Showcase Series runs weekly from Jan. 28, until April 15.
Denny shared the remaining schedule as follows:
March 25, The Gaiser Center and Army National Guard
April 1, Waynesburg University Graduate Programs and H&H Waters
April 8, Prince William County PD and Christian and Missionary Alliance
April 15, Washington County CYS and Lattes with a Librarian (Jill Peth for Library week)
Employers set up on the first floor of Stover from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
