On Tuesday, Waynesburg University had a Homecoming kickoff event from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Johnson Commons.
“This is the first event for the kickoff for Homecoming week,” Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Engagement Pat Bristor said. “This gives students an opportunity to take a break.”
Students had the opportunity to get a drink of their choice between lemonade and tea and could also pick between a selection of boba in strawberry, peach and blueberry as well as spinning a wheel to win some prizes such as sweatshirts, shirts, giftbags, cups and more.
Homecoming Court representative Jacob Harker, who was at the event, spoke on what being on the court means to him.
“It’s just a great opportunity to get to represent the students at the school,” Harker said. “It’s a great experience to be a part of homecoming court which will be announced at halftime at the football game and a fun experience to have some school pride.”
This event also featured WCYJ-FM as student general manager Danny Flynn was playing music and there were a variety of games such as connect four and spike ball.
Harker also mentioned what opportunities the event had to offer and what students should expect.
“Just get involved on campus, go out and meet people, it’s fun,” Harker said.
Many more events will be happening leading up to Homecoming, including the announcement of the King and Queen at halftime and the 5K before the football game. To learn more about Homecoming and the upcoming event checkout @wu_sab on Instagram or check out myConnect for more information.
