Waynesburg University Residence Life Staff Receives Two New Additions

During the 2023 summer break Waynesburg University announced multiple changes to their residence life staff, including the addition of two new staff members, Hunter Davis and Lydia Self.

Lydia Self, the new resident director of Burns Hall, joined the team when previous Resident Director of Burns Hall, Heidi Dziak, accepted the new position as Director of Housing for Waynesburg University. In addition, Hunter Davis, the new resident director of Martin Hall, joined the residence life staff in early July.

“One of the things that I found most appealing during my process when I was applying to work here at Waynesburg was seeing how robust the Residence Life team was with a team of six [Resident Director’s] or a whole group of [Resident Director’s] as opposed to where I worked, where it was two,” Davis said, “So, having more of a team focus was really appealing to me and I love all of the staff and all of my co-workers here so that’s been terrific.”

According to Heidi Dziak, who works alongside Adrienne Tharp as the co-heads of Residence Life, the residence life team has been working hard to build a team that communicates well and builds community.

“[We] really want to show what Waynesburg is, who we are and just show how to be great Christians, so when students leave here they go out into the world and continue to do that themselves in their own communities,” said Dziak.

Davis has already set goals to accomplish a more connected community.

“I have a goal of being sure to go to at least one event from every team that we have here on campus,” Davis said. “Part of that’s an effort to be able to support and connect the people that I have in my building, but another part of that is just being able to be connected to the ecosystem here on campus.”

Dziak stated how excited she is for her team and for the upcoming year.

“In general, I’m just really excited for the year. I’m excited for this new class. I’m excited to be able to do more things with students. I’m excited for Waynesburg to be like Waynesburg again,” said Dziak.
