The Women’s Volleyball Team defeated Penn State Shenango 3-0 on Thursday night for a non-conference match.
The Jackets, who were previously one and three, came into this matchup looking for a big win.
“I think it’s going to help us throughout the season because we are coming off two wins instead of just one,” Mickalya Baniaga said. “So, it will be nice coming into our first home game.”

Waynesburg, who hasn’t won a match winning three to zero since October 15th against Franciscan of last year’s season.
On the offensive side of things, it was Junior Emma Hyatt who played very well with five kills and three aces. Sophomore Paige Mortimore had a good game with 4 kills. Junior Jordan Stein put up a match high of four aces while tying the for the team lead with six digs.
The Jackets’ young core led the Jackets in assists and blocks, Kendall Ellsworth was one of the reasons for setting up nine different kills, and Carissa Krall had four huge block attempts from the lions.
“She actually got moved she was a right side in high school,” said Senior Hannah Fitzsimmons. “She got put in as the middle this year so it’s all new to her and her stepping up is incredible.”
The Jackets will have two more road games facing Pitt Greensburg on September 9th and will play Penn State Greater Allegheny before finally getting to come home and play in front of the home crowd on Tuesday September 12th against La Roche.
