The Waynesburg University Wrestling team participated in the Dr. Si Ostrach meet on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Yellow Jackets fell in their three matches on this day. They lost 27-19 to Case Western, 37-12 to St. John Fisher, and 32-18 to Penn College.
Despite the three team losses on the day, freshman Jessie Orbin put together an undefeated day for himself in the 184 pound weight class. He, along with senior Colby Morris and Cole Homet went 3-0 in their respective matches.
“Personally I believe that three more wins to my name is just padding the stats,” Orbin said. “I’m ready for whoever we draw in the postseason.”
Waynesburg had to fight from behind in all three matches on Sat. Orbin talked more about what the team tried to work on in those three matches and the mindset of the team when having to come from behind.
“I believe the thing we work on most is wrestling seven straight minutes and giving guys a rough time,” Orbin said. “The mindset we have [when facing a deficit] is go do your own thing. Make it your match and don’t wrestle his style.”
Waynesburg’s next match will be held this Wednesday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse where they will host their rivals, Washington & Jefferson. Orbin is ready for that match.
“I’m so ready for W&J,” Orbin said. “We all have the same attitude going into it. We are going to beat the crap out of them.”
Start time for that match is set for 7 p.m..
