Waynesburg doesn’t always come across as a weekend hot spot for college students, but there are lots of events in the area that many people may not know about. So to cure those weekend boredoms, here are three activities within Greene County you can participate in this weekend.
1. Murder Mystery Dinner
With a sit-down dinner and theatre entertainment, the Clarksville & Community VFD presents, “I Loathe Lucy” Saturday from 6-10 p.m. The mystery dinner theatre will be presented by Mystery’s Most Wanted. The group is based in Pittsburgh and has performed acts for more than 20 years. You can buy tickets to the event here.
2. Steampunk Garden Party and Picnic
Also Saturday, from 5-10 p.m., the Greene County Historical Society is hosting a picnic on their grounds. There will be a steampunk themed costume contest, lantern festival, photo booth and other activities. Make sure to bring a picnic blanket and food. Entry is $10.
3. Two Covered Bridge Festivals
Both the EQT Washington and Greene Counties’ Covered Bridge Festival and the White Covered Bridge Festival are Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The former festival has 10 locations, two of which are in Greene County in the towns of Garards Fort and Carmichaels. The latter festival is located just outside Waynesburg. Both events offer a variety of crafts, local vendors, demonstrations and free entry.
