The Waynesburg University Commuter Club hosted its Commuter Connection on Feb. 10. It took place in the commuter lounge in the Stover Campus Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Junior Morgan Bedilion is the president of the Commuter Club and was involved in the planning of this event.
“At Commuter Connections, food is provided by the dining hall,” Bedilion said. “Commuters have the opportunity to come in at any point and grab something to eat. They are welcome to stay and chat for a bit or just eat and run.”
Vincent Wise, the resident director of Thayer Hall and the faculty advisor for the Commuter Club, explained the focus on students for the club and the event.
“I was a commuter when I was in college, like 10 years ago, and one of the biggest issues I had as a commuter was that I never got to do anything on campus,” Wise said. “I didn’t know anyone on campus and was very disconnected from people.”
The event is an important part of the Commuter Club’s goal of providing commuters with opportunities to participate and engage in activities on campus.
“The real importance of the connection events is to get commuters to connect,” Bedilion said. “Sometimes it’s hard to meet others on campus, especially if you’re a commuter. So, these events really just give commuters the opportunity to meet people that they might not have otherwise.”
That priority is shared with the Residence Life Department to improve student life across the board.
“I think that’s something us in Residence Life can offer to commuters to connect with people on campus and other commuters as well,” Wise said.
