The Student Activities Board started off Halloween week with a movie night in the Beehive. Students were invited to join the week of fun by watching the movie “Halloween” while enjoying a variety of snacks.

“We just try to have some snacks here. We got some candy too,” said Isaiah Skeete, Graduate Assistant for Student Activities. “We try to think of things that you would have in an actual movie theater.”

With Halloween right around the corner, the event was a chance to get students into the spirit of the season.

“I am preparing for the spooky season as of last night,” said Sadie Mink, sophomore digital design major. “I went to Kennywood on the Phantom Fall Fest trip. I rode some roller coasters, went through a haunted house. I also got my Halloween costume. I’m going trick-or-treating. I am excited to watch this movie.”

Scary movies might not be for everyone, but that didn’t stop them from coming out to enjoy the night with their friends.

“I am not someone who typically likes scary movies, but something about the spooky season is getting me excited,” Mink said. “So yeah, I was looking forward to being able to watch it. I watched the first two Halloween movies and I wasn’t too scared so hopefully, cross my fingers it goes well.”

Despite the event not being well attended, Skeete was excited to hangout with those who did attend.

“We knew this was going to be on a weekend, right. We just try to advertise the best that we can, knowing that [attendance] could be lower, it could be high. We just have to live with the outcome,” Skeete said. “The students that are here right now, we’re definitely excited that they’re here and we’re excited to hang out with them for the night.”

SAB will be hosting several upcoming Halloween events this week.

We have a lot of events coming up this week that are going to kind of get students out and kind of experience the spooky season,” Skeete said.

SAB hosted several other Halloween events this week including Pumpkinfest and Harvestfest.
