Womens Tennis falls to Westminster 8-1

On Tuesday afternoon, the women’s tennis team lost to the Westminster Titans with a final of 8-1.

Sophomore Aubrey Burns would be responsible for the only point scored, winning her sets 6-3 and 7-5.

“A positive from today was Aubrey’s win”, said freshman Julia Luzar. “The team also really improved in the transition from doubles to singles and everyone put in a lot of effort into their singles match, and maintained a good attitude”, she said.

Tomorrow’s practice has a goal to learn from today, Luzar said.

“Tomorrow at practice, we are going to focus on working with our doubles partners and being more aggressive and accurate at the net.”

This was the first of four matches in the next four days for the women, including two matches on Friday.

“We’re going to spend a lot of time in the van on Friday, but they’ll be able to stay loose and enjoy themselves.”, Head Coach Randy Pettit said.

Now that the school year is well underway, Coach Pettit is high on self-care for his team.

“The biggest thing is just taking care of themselves,” Petit said. “This is that time of year where illnesses are starting to go around, there might be exams starting to pop up now that we’re a couple weeks into class, so, taking care of themselves away from here.”

The women’s next match is this Thursday at home against La Roche.
