Pennsylvania State Representative Donald “Bud” Cook hosted a grant seminar on Tuesday, March 14 in the EQT Rec Center.
The purpose of the event was to secure funding from the commonwealth for several projects.
“We can build the broadband, we can build the marketing, we can build the access to all that stuff,” Cook said. “I just want our unfair share amount of grants back into our area, southwestern Pennsylvania.”
In addition to petitioning for grants, Cook had more plans for the seminar.
“We have three priorities overall,” Cook said. “The first thing we want is fair, accountable and transparent government. That’s non-negotiable. The second thing is promoting our traveling and tourism.”
He also clarified that as a representative, he holds no power to write the actual grants.
“I get to go to jail if I get caught doing that,” he said.
However, once the grants are written, those become “the cards” that Cook will use in Harrisburg to try and accomplish his goals.
