Bisque & Brew Kicks Off Second Week of Classes

On Tuesday evening, Waynesburg University provided its students with a chance to come out to socialize and share interests in coffee and painting with other members of campus. The Bisque & Brew event was held at the Beehive on Tuesday at 4 p.m., where students had the chance to paint small ceramic sculptures and grab coffee at a discounted price.

“Bisque & Brew is,like, a really fun event, where we have a lady come in that does her own ceramics, so students can paint those and then they get a $2 off coupon for the Starbucks in the Beehive,” Isabella Bull, a student volunteer, said.. “It just gets students out of their room and gives them a break from homework and everything.”

The event brought out not only coffee fanatics, but passionate painters as well, such as Waynesburg student Mark Grove.

“I mean, the reason why I came out to this event was because I really like to paint. It is really relaxing and it is great to spend time with my friends.” For Grove, he said that the painting was what attracted him the most.

People came to the Beehive following their afternoon classes with friends  around the event’s 4 p.m. start time. The second floor of Stover was filled with people attending the event, with lines for the ceramic painting reaching from one side of the room to the other.

“There’s definitely a lot more people here than I expected,” Grove said.

Despite the big turnout of people interested in attending the event, there is a bit of a need for student volunteers to help out with the event.

“We used to have about 50 volunteers, but now we are really low because of COVID. We have 20 now, but we used to have 50 or 60 so we definitely need help,” Bull said. She also said she had fun working the event. She has been involved in helping with the event since her freshman year and has a great time doing so.

“It is so much fun. This is my third year working the event and I have been helping since my freshman year.”
