Thursday September 14th, the Men’s Golf team ranked 14th place out of 17 in the Grove City Invitational held at Grove City Country Club.
This is the first time since 2007 that the golf team has participated in this invitational but not the first time the members of the team have played here at Grove City CC.
“It’s definitely a longer course,” sophomore Hudson Pincavitch said. “Our course is one of the shorter ones in the conference, which doesn’t give us an advantage in preparing for the invitational.”
When transitioning from practice to a match Pincavitch makes sure the adjustments should be made.
“In practice I’ll tell the guys we are gonna change how we play for the day like adding or subtracting a stroke from the par of the hole, and I try to hold them to that.”
Waynesburg carded a 347 on the day with Matthew Karpeal scoring the lowest with a 77, tying him for sixth among the invitational. Hudson Pincavitch tied for 27th with an 80, Matt Ankrom with a 93 and freshman Michael Clark scoring a 97.
Following the invitational, Waynesburg brought their overall to 4-13.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, September 19 as they visit Oglebay Jones Course in West Virginia at the Bethany Invitational.
