In the second quarter, Waynesburg scored 22 points while allowing only eight.
In the second half, Waynesburg never let off the gas, ending things with an 85-49 victory.
Waynesburg’s current record is 9-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference. The team currently ranks fifth in the South Division of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).
The leading scorers in the game were senior Clara-Paige Miller and senior Tori Wesoloski, who each had 14 points. Miller emphasized the importance of a strong bench.
“Having so many players that can contribute allows us to have productive practices & always have fresh players on the court,” Miller said.
Miller also mentioned what the team can do to maintain its win streak.
“I think we can continue to share the ball well & allow our pressure on defense to lead to success on offense,” Miller said.
Wesolowski talked about the defensive performance and how it can help the team throughout the second half of the season.
“It’s very important because strong defense leads to turnovers,” Wesolowski said. “Turnovers turn into easy points and help the team win games consistently in the second half of the season.”
Wesolowski also talked about the impact the team’s rebounds were for the team this past Saturday.
“The rebounds were important because they gave us more scoring chances and prevented the other team from getting second shots,” Wesolowski said. “That helped control the game and get the win.”
The Yellow Jackets will go on the road to face Saint Vincent tomorrow. Tip-off is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
