WU’s 11th annual Day of Giving set for tomorrow

One Waynesburg University tradition that has stood tall for the last eleven years is the university’s annual Day of Giving fundraiser this Thursday, Nov. 5.

The fundraiser stretches all across campus for a 24 hour span that brings the community together to donate gifts to support the students. From academics to student run programs and everything in between, there’s a campaign at Waynesburg that is in need of support.

Donna Nypaver, Coordinator of Annual Giving and Donor Relations at Waynesburg, is in her second year of running the fundraiser and has reflected her devoted time on this tradition.

“I’ve had the opportunity to meet and connect with many alumni, parents, students and friends, and one thing that has stood out to me is how deeply people care about Waynesburg and our students,” Nypaver said. “It has been rewarding to see firsthand the impact that generosity can have across campus.”

Coast to coast alumni, friends, family and locals come together for one very important goal: to create opportunities for the students at Waynesburg.

“Whether someone gives $10 or $1,000, they’re helping support scholarships, academics, athletics, student organizations and so many other areas that shape the student experience. It’s not just about raising funds,” Nypaver said. “It’s about seeing our community rally around students and investing in their success. Every year, I’m reminded that when we come together, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish.”

On the Day of Giving dashboard, 63 total donations spanning 12 different states have been given as of Nov. 3. The goal for donations of $300,000.

Every athletic team and department has a small friendly competition during the fundraiser to see which can raise the most.

Nypaver looks at Day of Giving as a way to reflect the belief that the community built at Waynesburg truly believes in helping students reach their full potential.

“I hope people remember that participation is just as important as the amount given. Together, we can open doors, create opportunities and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students,” Nypaver said. “It’s incredible to see what happens when the Waynesburg community comes together around a shared purpose, and I’m excited to see that spirit on full display again this year.”
