Local Businesses Offer Student Discounts

As students returned to Waynesburg University this Fall semester, they have noticed some of the changes the University put into play. One of the changes includes more local business that are offering student discounts.

Pat Bristor, associate dean of students, has overseen the partnerships between Waynesburg and local business for about 7 years now. According to Bristor, the University has always implemented a discount for students with local businesses.

“I think that it’s…worth noting that this system has been in for several years,” Bristor said. “We’ve been doing it for quite some time, it was just time to update it again. There are a lot [of] new businesses and quite honestly I’m not sure how many students knew about it last time.”

One of the reasons students may not have known about the discounts in previous years is because how little the discounts were advertised. This year, however, Bristor made sure to print enough pages that list the businesses so each student could have a copy.

I think it’s important as students come to Waynesburg University to become part of the community… There’s a lot of unique shops in town. Take the time to go take a look and explore and see”
