Local church offers final Lenten lunch

The season of Lent is referred to as a time of preparation and an opportunity to grow closer to God. As a result, it is a time of personal reflection that gets people ready for Easter and Good Friday. It also means another annual tradition as people search their local communities for the ideal fish fry.

The annual fish fry at St. Ann Church at 232 E. High Street in Waynesburg will offer its final Lenten lunch on April 7.

Lunch is made available on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For the rest of the season, the meal would switch over to the dinner menu, which was served until 7 p.m.

“I was here for the first time last Friday after picking up my nephew and I was really impressed,” said Eva Gilson, who was recently visiting family from Ohio.

Signs at the church and an online flier gave details of the food and prices. Visitors can choose from a fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw and a variety of other items on the lunch menu. There is a larger selection on the dinner menu.
