Waynesburg Women’s Track team run em’ down

The Waynesburg Women’s track teams traveled to Youngstown State for a two day indoor meet Jan. 31 through Feb. 1.

The women were able to set some good marks and get some personal records.

Grace Tanksley ran a massive personal record in 3k dropping over a minute and going sub 12 with an 11:47.09 performance. Tanksley is in her junior year and is one of the veterans of this team.

“I really want to test myself and see what I can do,” Tanksley said. “We are a really young team so I have no idea what we are going to do this season.I am really excited to see.”

The 10k runner will look to do what she’s known for,  as she is gearing up for the outdoor season.

“My main goal is to PR in the 10k,” Tanksley said. “I am excited for the 10k at PACs. It’s an exciting race and even though it’s super long the energy is so much fun during.”

JaLisa Fuller ran the open 400 meter dash in 1:07.27. She bounced back and led her 4×400 meter team with the fastest split around 1:03.

Fuller is a sophomore and is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“What I’m most excited for is making my goals, honestly,” Fuller said. “Just to get better at my events.”

Chloe Fields also notched a PR in her belt with a 6:02.57 in the mile. Sub 6 is on the horizon.

The sophomore is super appreciative of her teammates.

“My teammates help me tremendously,” Fields said. “They support me on and off the track, and they help with training. It’s nice to always know that I have a support system when it comes to running.”

Head coach Chris Hardie is proud of the team he was and is proud to be their coach.

“It’s really a blessing to coach our ladies every day,” wrote Hardie. “They are hard working, dedicated and focused.”

The women will compete at the Denison Bob Shannon Invitational in Granville Ohio next Saturday, Feb. 8.
