What I aim to accomplish as president

I am honored and excited to be Waynesburg University’s next Student Senate president. I would like to thank all of my friends who helped me get to this position. Without your support I would not have been able to achieve this great honor. I appreciate all of you. The one thing I can promise to the Waynesburg students is that I will always be honest and lead with integrity.

My three commitments as your president are: to make Student Senate more transparent and approachable with you, the students; to act as a more effective and accessible liaison for students who have concerns with university administration; and to give the Student Senate a greater influence and increased notoriety around campus. Although Student Senate has numerous accomplishments, I believe that there are many aspects we can, and will, improve upon.

One of my first intentions as Student Senate president will be to publicize the senate more and encourage students to attend senate meetings. I will achieve this by advertising through two simple methods. First, I will have the senate place signs on campus bulletin boards with basic information listing the time, day and location of the senate meetings, which are every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on the third floor Stover Campus Center conference room. Secondly, I will interact with students throughout campus, informing them more about the senate. I will also encourage them to come to senate meetings to voice their concerns on what they feel needs to be implemented.

As president, I hope to build a strong relationship with other clubs and groups around Waynesburg. That also includes building a rapport with school administration and faculty. This is an important step in making the senate work more effectively and positively for the student body.

As college students, we have a lot on our plates. We tend to get caught up in our day-to-day classes and activities. My fellow senate members and I will act as advocates to improve upon each student’s college experience to the best of our abilities. We will encourage all students to speak up, on any issue they feel matters, no matter how insignificant the issue may seem to be. If you do not speak up or get involved, Waynesburg University will not become better. Hope to see you around campus.
