Waynesburg, Pa. (Sept. 13)- The Waynesburg University women’s soccer team continued its homestand Tuesday night against the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats after a win on Saturday night facing Mount Aloysius. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Bobcats 2-0.

The Yellow Jackets conceded a goal to Pitt Greensburg’s freshman forward Megan Hickey, which was Hickey’s fifth goal of the season.

But Hickey did not stop there.

She put her sixth goal of the season into the back of the net in the 47th minute, and that would be the dagger for Waynesburg.

Goalkeeper Autumn Blair conceded two goals to Pitt Greensburg, but her six saves in 70 minutes of playing time kept the Yellow Jackets within reach of the Bobcats.

Freshman goalkeeper Mya Riggle entered the contest with just over 19 minutes remaining in the game.

“It was a tactical move,” Head coach George DeAugustino said. “ Mya has great distribution skills and plays higher off her line.”

Waynesburg put four shots on goal, but the team’s defense allowed nine shots on goal.

“We need to keep possession,” DeAugustino said. “We need to eliminate turnovers.”

The women’s soccer team has two more games to complete its four-game homestand. On Saturday, Sept. 17,  Baldwin Wallace will be coming to John F. Wiley Stadium to take on the Yellow Jackets.

Waynesburg currently sit at 2-2-1 on the season, and Baldwin Wallace will come into the match Saturday sitting at 4-1 on the season. It will be a battle of the Yellow Jackets on Saturday at 8 p.m. following the men’s match against Baldwin Wallace.
