WAYNESBURG, Pa. (June 15) – It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of rising senior wrestler Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) following a motorcycle accident this past weekend.

“The Waynesburg University community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our student athletes,” Waynesburg University said in a statement. “Jessie Orbin will be greatly missed. We are sending prayers for God to lift up and comfort his family at this difficult time.”

Orbin was a standout on the mats for the Yellow Jackets. He eclipsed 100 victories (107-25) in just three seasons, while also winning two Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) titles and appearing in a third championship bout. He was recognized by the PAC as its Outstanding Wrestler at the 2026 conference championships.

His impressive athletic resume also included four other individual tournament crowns, winning PAC Wrestler of the Week seven times and being named PAC Newcomer of the Week twice as a freshman.

Orbin also served as a team captain during the 2025-26 campaign, during which he led the team in total wins, pins, technical falls and major decisions. His flawless 11-0 record in dual matches this past winter gave him a 38-bout win streak in dual competition that stretches back to early in his freshman campaign.

He was twice named Waynesburg University Male Athlete of the Year at the annual WUESPY awards. Orbin also spent time with the Waynesburg University football team.

Viewing and funeral arrangements will be released in the near future.
