Waynesburg, Pa. (Sept. 7) – The Waynesburg University women’s soccer team hit the road to face off against the La Roche Redhawks on Tuesday night.

Two second-half goals by junior defender Grace Ingram the Yellow Jackets to a 3-2 comeback victory.

The Yellow Jackets (1-1-1) conceded a goal within the first seven minutes of the game to senior midfielder Carola Corbi Guiaro.

Waynesburg tied the game at 35:28 with a goal from freshman Reagan Mittendorf.

Freshman goalkeeper Mya Riggle got her first half of college action against La Roche (0-1-2),  allowing one goal in the 63rd minute of the contest and making two saves.

The game was tied 2-2, but Waynesburg quickly answered in the 67th minute with another Ingram goal that would seal the deal for the Yellow Jackets.

“I would say that it definitely was encouraging to score the final goal of the match, but it felt even better to get the win,” Ingram said.

The extensive traveling will cease for the Yellow Jackets, as the next four matches are all at home. The first game coming up is on Sept. 10 against Mount Aloysius.

Head Coach George DeAugustino is encouraged about his team’s performance but focused on continuing to build at home.

We are excited to have this homestand, but we are focused on the next game on Saturday against Mount Aloysius,” DeAugustino said.
