Women’s Hoops fall to Geneva

The women’s basketball team traveled north to the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes and took a tough 77-52 loss. 

Kalista Friday finished the game with nine points and four rebounds, and Kayla Howard also had nine points for the Yellow Jackets. 

The Lady Jackets kept the game close at the beginning going into the second quarter only down three with a score of 14-11.  

The majority of the second quarter the two were battling it out and kept it close with three minutes left in the first half with a score of 25-20.  

However, for those last three minutes Geneva flipped a switch and went into the half with a 38-23 lead.  

 After that, the Jackets could not catch up, and the Geneva Golden Tornadoes swept the Lady Jackets.  

“With only five games left we want to leave this season on a high note and be able to carry it onto the offseason and next season,” said freshman Kalista Friday.  

“Some goals I have for the rest of the season is to work on being a better leader and try to just improve myself as a player,” said Friday about her end of season goals. 

 The Jackets will drop to a 4-16 overall record and 3-12 in the conference sitting at ninth in the Presidents Athletic Conference while the Golden Tornadoes rise to 10-11 overall and 9-7 in the conference and tied for fifth in the Conference.  

The Jackets are back in action on Saturday at home when they face the Allegheny Gators at 1 p.m.
