We’re all set for another week of NFL action, which means once again it’s time to set our fantasy lineups today. As Week 5 kicks off, we enter a make or break stretch of the year for most fantasy teams. Every week will have a major impact on playoff hopes, so let’s look at some must make moves.

Week 5 Starters

Kareem Hunt (RB), Cleveland Browns

If you took a gamble on Hunt in your fantasy draft, congratulations. He’s been a borderline top ten fantasy running back, and that was before Nick Chubb went down with an injury. That means Hunt is the go-to guy in Cleveland. If you have him on your team, he’s a no brainer to start.

 Kenyan Drake (RB), Arizona Cardinals

It’s true, Drake has been one of the biggest busts of the fantasy season thus far. While many are giving up on him, I am not. Drake is facing the Jets, who are one of the worst fantasy teams against running backs this year. Last week, they gave up 25 points to Melvin Gordon, and the week before they allowed 13 points to Jonathan Taylor. There is still time to turn his season around, and this week seems like a prime opportunity to do so.

Justin Jefferson (WR), Minnesota Vikings

Jefferson has started to break out in fantasy. Better yet, he’s a free agent in about 20 percent of fantasy leagues. This week’s matchup is against Seattle, who has given up more fantasy points to receivers than any other team.

Teddy Bridgewater (QB), Carolina Panthers

Fantasy teams that have been affected by postponements may want to look at Teddy Bridgewater as their quarterback this week. Atlanta has given up touchdown passes to opposing quarterbacks like they’re candy on Halloween. While Bridgewater isn’t Wilson/Rodgers/Prescott, he is good enough to light up the weak Atlanta defense.

 

Bench Them

Mike Gesicki (TE), Miami Dolphins

Gesicki is good, but the 49ers have been great against tight ends. They’ve shut down guys like Zach Ertz already, and Gesicki probably won’t do better than Ertz. Miami’s offense will probably revolve more around DeVante Parker in the passing game. If you’ve got another tight end on the roster that you trust, this could be a week to play them.

Rams Backfield

Don’t start the Rams running backs. Who’s the top dog in that backfield? We can’t be sure who is going to see the most touches. You could see Henderson have a big week or lay an egg. Whenever teams are going with the running back by committee approach, like the Rams have, it’s better to just stay away. I’d take my chances starting someone who you know is going to see the majority of touches for their team.

A.J. Green (WR), Cincinnati Bengals

If you are in a deep league, having Green might not be bad. If your league has 10 teams or less, it’s time to part ways with Green. He has seen plenty of targets, but he just isn’t producing fantasy points. You are better off adding someone with more upside.
