The Men’s Golf team had another showing earlier this week at the Saint Vincent invitational where they finished fourth place out of 10 teams on Monday with a score of 335.
Freshman Alan Tarolli led the team and continued with 78 strokes and a fourth place finish out of 64. Tarolli tallied up three birdies along with eight pars on the day; he also birdied two of four par-fives on the course.
Junior Matt Karpeal also showed out with a tie for fifth place; he shot 79 with an electric one-over 37 back nine while adding birdies on holes 12 and 14.
“I think the team is performing well,” Coach Cipoletti said. “We are excited for the guys to put together a one-five, all-in-the-seventy’s round. We think it’s a matter of time, and it will be a big deal for us when it does happen.”
Coach Cipoletti acknowledged how great his top two players are playing so far this season and seems confident in them.
“Our number one and number two players are performing as expected,” Cipoletti answered. “They are a contender to win every conference event we enter. Matt and Alan’s results so far this season have been exceptional.”
However, Coach Cipoletti did mention some things the team is looking to improve on in the upcoming weeks.
“We have had at least one great round out of each of the three to five golfers, we just haven’t had all three of those guys put it together on the same day,” Cipoletti said. “So just getting more consistency out of our team play from event to event, top to bottom, is really what we’re focusing on right now.”
When asked what the team is the most excited for this season, the players all told Coach the same thing.
“I think if you asked the guys what they liked the best about playing for WU Golf, they would say the access to our top of the line training facility,” said Cipoletti. “I think we have a really good group of men that support one another, and they all buy into the idea that our successes are predicated by the amount of focused repetitions they accumulate in the Swing Lab.
The Men’s golf team’s next match is at the Golden Eagle Invitational this Friday. Tee off is set for 10:30 a.m.
