Baseball team prepares for season ahead

As fall workouts get underway, the Waynesburg University Baseball team is already setting high goals for the upcoming season. Head coach Mike Impellittiere is excited about where the team is headed.

“We’re building a strong culture,” Impellittiere said. “Our focus is on being competitive, developing our players, and growing leaders. I believe this group has what it takes to make a deep playoff run.”

Impellittiere says leadership is already showing up during the offseason.

“We’ve had guys step up in ways that don’t even involve baseball,” Impellittiere said. “They’re leading in the weight room, helping teammates, and setting the tone off the field. That’s a big part of who we want to be.”

To help track progress, the team is using a training app called Volt, which monitors workouts and strength gains. It’s also helping coaches see who’s putting in the work consistently–another sign of leadership.

Impellittiere is quick to credit his assistant coaches for helping build the program the right way.

“We have some of the best coaches in the country,” Impellittiere said. “We talk every day and work together on everything from planning practices to helping players improve. We’re all on the same page, and that makes a big difference.”

The team is focused, hungry and is building something special heading into the spring.

“If we stay locked in and keep pushing each other, we’ve got a shot to do something big this year,” Impellittiere said.

Fans will have plenty to be excited about when the Yellow Jackets take the field this spring.
