WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov.7)- Sophomore midfielder Reagan Mittendorf’s (Bluffton, Ohio) work ethic is impeccable, as she is involved with soccer, having a double major and now getting her first internship.
Mittendorf’s major is Forensic Science and Biochemistry. She is able to have a double major since she brought in over 50 credits to Waynesburg.
“I am pretty good at time management but I am super passionate about soccer and school,” Mittendorf said. “I owe most of it to myself and my family that helped me get here to excel in both.”
With the double major Mittendorf also has become a member of Gamma Sigma Epsilon, which is the Chemistry Honor Society.
This upcoming summer she does have an internship lined up with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“I hope this internship provides me with both training and opportunities for jobs when I get out to college, ” Mittendorf said. “That is all I can say about that since it is with a government agency.”
With all the excellence in the classroom she has just as much excellence on the pitch as well.
This season, she has tallied nine goals, four assists, with 51 shots on goal and over 1,300 minutes played this year.
“We have to give her some credit for her work ethic and all the time she puts in by herself,” said Head Coach George DeAugustino. “This offseason I am not going to lie, she became a gym rat and her growth has exploded exponentially.”
For this season, Mittendorf is ranked 10th in shots with 51 and ninth in goals with nine among those in the President’s Athletic Conference.
“She is very developed and was actually my first recruit and offer,” DeAugstino said. “ She is always the first one on the field juggling or taking shots on goal, and after practice she stays after to take penalty kicks which she went a perfect two for two in the season.”
Mittendorf’s quickness may come from another sport as well, as while she played soccer during all four years of high school, she also played basketball for two years.
“Her work ethic and her ambition is a key part to our team and herself, “said Assistant Coach Emily Redman. “This will help her thrive and find success on and off the field.”
“Eventually I want my career to be in laboratory work in the field of forensics once I get started with my career, ” Mittendorf said.
The balance between the upcoming internship, soccer, and the double major. She will continue this for at least one more year since she may have the chance to graduate early.
We will see if this hard work pays off as she may win an award from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. These awards will be announced Nov. 7 in the afternoon.
