RGB Coffee held a DIY mosaic event on Thursday, Sept. 19. The event took place from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Waynesburg community members, as well as college students were encouraged to come and partake in the activities.
The event was run by Karole Wagner of Karole Wagner Designs. Wagner creates gifts such as Christmas ornaments, personalized cutting boards, coasters and jewelry. Wagner led the event by teaching all the participants how to make a mosaic sunflower with tile work.
RGB, standing for “Roast, Grind and Brew”, is a coffee shop near Waynesburg’s campus. RGB holds crafting events similar to this a few times throughout the year.
Most of the participants were members of the Waynesburg community. However, a couple students were seen as well. Sophomores Emma Cervola and Brynn Charnesky, members of the Waynesburg University softball team, were a few that were seen at the event.
“I really enjoy the events that RGB holds,” Cervola said. “RGB has such a cozy atmosphere, so it’s the perfect place to hold an event like this. It ran very smoothly and I would definitely go back.”
While drinks and food were not included in the $30 ticket for this event, a cup of coffee and a pastry are the perfect pairing for a DIY craft like this.
“The event could not have been more fun,” Charnesky said. “RGB is such a fun place to get together with your friends and share food and drinks, so adding in a fun event makes it that much better. I personally love arts and crafts, so I think that holding an event like this near campus and opening it up to college students who have free time is a great way to get them more involved in the community. I will definitely be attending the next event.”
The next event at RGB will be another mosaic tutorial, but it will be a pumpkin to celebrate Halloween rather than a sunflower. This event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 5:30-7:30. Ticket prices will be the same, and college students are once again welcome to participate. Karole Wagner will be leading the tutorial.
