Waynesburg University is hosting its annual Day of Giving, a tradition that has spanned for years at the University and one that requires a great deal of effort, time, and generosity to put it all together.
Donna Nypaver, who is the Director of Donor Relations and Annual Giving for the University, spoke about the complexities of the event, and all that goes into its success.
“Day of Giving is our annual fundraising event where we ask the entire Waynesburg University community to come together and support the University. This fundraising event began seven years ago. The university wanted to offer our supporters the opportunity to give to a specific department or program that they are passionate about. We also wanted to get the campus involved and assist them in raising funds for their immediate needs.”
When asked about the involvement from the university itself, Nypaver made it known there is involvement from the entire student and faculty body, going as far as to add some competitive flair to the event.
“We ask each academic departments and athletic teams to get involved with the inter-departmental challenge. Through this friendly fundraising competition, the students can help raise funds for the university, while helping their favorite department/team receive additional funds.”
Though there are several individuals such as Nypaver who play a key role in putting the Day of Giving together, she did not single any one person out when asked about it, rather noting how the fundraising event is organized by the entire Institutional Advancement staff, noting that to make such a large scale operation a reality is a, “great team effort.”
Despite the work that goes into the Day of Giving by the faculty and those who are pitched with organizing everything, Nypaver notes how the entire Day of Giving comes down to not just a few people or groups, but rather the entirety of Waynesburg University.
“The success of this event depends on the WU community. We ask that community members reach to their friends and family to get involved by supporting Waynesburg on November 3, 2022. Donations made for any amount make a difference in the lives of Waynesburg students. They can also help ‘spread the word’ to the community.”
Nypaver followed this up by praising those in the Waynesburg University community who make such a day possible, stating, “The University continues to be blessed with wonderful support from the entire Waynesburg University community, including faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and friends. I think that is a testament to how much Waynesburg means to so many people and how this University has impacted so many lives.”
Nypavier sees Day of Giving as an opportunity for fellowship and an outwardly expression of how much Waynesburg University means to so many people.
“It is very heartwarming to see Waynesburg University alumni, friends, students, parents, faculty and staff unite for something we are all very passionate about.”Those interested in donating to Waynesburg can do so by mailing a check to University Relations, calling 724-852-3378, or visiting the online form here.
