SAB organizing bingo in the Beehive

Waynesburg University’s bingo, which is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m., is a big event for the Student Activities Board.

With campus bingo events happening every three weeks, students have chances to win prizes from a small, medium and big prize tier range, including a last chance “clear all” cash prize. The clear all means students must fill every slot on the bingo card and the first student to do so and scream, “bingo!” wins the cash prize.

Resident Director of Martin Hall, Kevin Thacker, is heavily involved with Waynesburg’s SAB and shared his feelings about the event.

“Bingo is definitely the biggest event on campus by far,” Thacker said. “It’s always been like that even when I was a student too. Bingo has always been the most attended and I think the biggest reason for that is the environment.”

With students being the most important piece of the bingo environment, students often show a great deal of passion when playing the game.

Student engagement is one of the most involved contingents of Waynesburg University, and aids in the thriving of campus life within the University.

Alyssa D’Alessandro, Waynesburg University Office of Student Engagement graduate assistant, spoke on the benefits of bingo from a community standpoint.

“I think it offers fun into, what can be, a lot of academics,” D’Alessandro said. “It allows for people to come together and interact with people you don’t usually interact with. It ultimately offers a place for a different variety of people to come together.”

As mentioned, the Valentine’s Day themed bingo takes place Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. in the Beehive.
