Friday Sept. 8, a new event made its way to campus, one that President of Waynesburg, Doug Lee hopes to see more of.
Snack Chat is an open invitation event that welcomes students into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee. This allows students to talk with them over some snacks about anything they would like to.
For one student this gave her an extended period of time to talk with President Lee rather than just in passing.
“I have always enjoyed chatting with the Lee’s,” said Marla Holland, senior psychology major. “it has always been fairly brief so I thought that this event would allow for more time to chat.”
Over the summer, Marla was a recipient of the Vira Heinz Scholarship and study abroad in Austrailia. The Snack Chat gave way for Holland being able to tell President and Mrs. Lee about her travels. She also said that President Lee was attentive and actually listend to what she was saying.
Snacks of chips, vegis and smores were also provided to accompany the chats. Well over 50 students were in attendance over the course of a few hours.
Most importantly, Holland said how important it was to see how active the president is in what his students do across campus.
“These events are important for students to be involved in all sorts of ways on campus and to understand that the faculty and staff here are on your team,” said Holland, “they care about you and want to know what they can do to support you.”
