Sara Clegg - The Yellow Jacket On Nov. 5, Waynesburg University once again hosted the Celebrity Barista event with RGB Coffee. The money earned from the tips for each of the celebrity baristas goes towards funding Sting’s Pantry, a free resource of snacks and food for students on the third floor of the Stover Center.
Pat Bristor, the associate dean of students, oversaw the event, as well as served for it herself.
“I set it during the Day of Giving week so that money can go towards my goal for the pantry,” Bristor said. “Basically, it is just a fun way of getting the students to support different folks at the university. I know they come here anyway, and then maybe they’ll throw a little tip in a jar for us.”
In addition to the fundraising for Sting’s Pantry, the goal of the event is to determine who is the Celebrity Barista for 2025, meaning they earned the most money in their tip jar.
Those that were in the running this year alongside Bristor were Aaron Sielski from Student Development, coach Cornelius Coleman representing Waynesburg University Athletics and the football team, President Douglas G. Lee, Doug Wilson representing the Department of Communication, and Robert Aberegg or better known as “Security Bob”.
“This is our second year doing it and we tried to get some new people this year,” Bristor said. “So out of the six people, there’s only two returners, myself, the reigning champ, and Security Bob.”
The event received a strong turnout, with students from many different activities and departments coming out to support their respective faculty and staff members.
Senior Lydia Otto attended the event for Bristor.
“I enjoyed seeing Pat Bristor learning to make coffee,” Otto said. “I was a little on the fence about going to RGB, but I remembered that the money is for Sting’s Pantry. I wanted to help with some donations so that all students can benefit from the convenient snacks.”
Bristor was not confident she would be able to pull out the win again this year
“I don’t know,” Bristor said. “I’d like to think I will win, but I have a feeling President Lee might win.”
Despite her doubt, Bristor managed to win, followed by Security Bob and Doug Wilson.
